Dreaming In Public - Making Art In the Real World

Producer/Director Peter O'Keefe and Grass Roots Media Inc. of South Bend won the Emmy for Outstanding Achievement for Arts/Entertainment Programming for their documentary Dreaming In Public (Episode 1).

Dreaming In Public tells the stories of visual artists Kay Westhues and Jake Webster as they struggle to make art and make a living in the middle of 'flyover country' Indiana. Both Kay and Jake have achieved solid reputations in the art world and their work is widely collected and exhibited. In spite of that success, earning a living from their art continues to be the biggest challenge they face. Dreaming In Public follows them as they make art and talk about their lives and their careers as artists. The documentary's visual style reflects their work: bold, lyrical and evocative, revealing the impressive range and quality of their artistic output.
